Why USDA accreditation matters
For international pet travel, you need a USDA-endorsed health certificate (APHIS Form 7001). Only USDA-accredited veterinarians can issue the initial health certificate, which then must be endorsed by your local USDA APHIS Veterinary Services office.
Category I accreditation covers companion animals (dogs and cats) for routine travel. Category II covers livestock and other animals.
The health certificate must typically be completed within 10 days of travel.
